Tell me what is your favorite word RIGHT NOW? Why is it your favorite word and how often do you use it?

Prompt Response: My favorite words right now is the word 'persevere', a word that I have mentioned in my past blog posts. It's my favorite word because to me I am infatuated with it, being curious about on the limits of what does it mean to 'persevere'; everyone has different reasons for doing so whether for responsibility, praise, or even love. Regardless I don't have a reason unlike everyone else, on my own path I question why I am even "walking" down this road and now I am in a dilemma with my inner self. I use the word quite often in my head saying to myself every morning "I will persevere and soar the skies and climb the highest of mountains".  Summary: Today in class we went over the assignment we did yesterday about the poem "Songs of Innocence- The Chimney Sweepers" by William Blake. After that we created a comic strip over 15 new vocabulary terms.  Reflection: Today I learned about the term vernacular, which means "ev...

Before the Civil War, most people saw nothing wrong with children working long hours. Over time, people began to see it as unfair and even cruel. What is something that society once accepted but now sees as wrong, or something we still accept today that might be viewed as wrong in the future? Explain your reasoning.

Prompt Response: Something we still accept that will most likely be seen as wrong and not done in the future is racism as we start to see as a society it is mixed as sometimes it can often be seen as good and bad. In today's society we believe that racism is something that is "fine" however the effects are often bad because it influences us to believe we can treat a person a certain color a certain way and I believe that in the future maybe a decade or two will be seen as something that is morally wrong and is not done even among young generations as we all join hands together.  Summary: Today in class we read over a short article over how child labor was soon abolished and what led up to that. Reflection: Today I learned that child labor is not used today because of the many factors that tie into it such as the harsh conditions they had to work in. This impacted me by making me feel a bit empathetic because it made me imagine on how the kids back then we're treated ...

Blake uses the chimney sweepers to expose how society ignores suffering. Reflect on a time when you noticed someone being treated unfairly or saw a situation that didn’t seem right. How does this experience connect to the emotions or ideas expressed in one or both poems?

Prompt Response: A time when I noticed someone being treated unfairly was when I saw someone being made fun of and didn't do anything about it because I mean how weird would stepping out of place be? Even if you were to give me 50 bucks I wouldn't go and save the person because I wouldn't be willing to face social awkwardness. The experience connects to the emotions or ideas in both poems by showing that the experience of the person being bullied also has a false sense of hope that things will get better by themselves with no change in what is done (Innocence) and other people getting to live their life just fine and being sad and angry at the world if not God for them existing (Experience).  Summary: Today in class we read over two poems and discussed about it a little and did an assignment. Reflection: Today I've learned that a person's circumstances with everyone around them sometimes can't be changed. This impacted me by making me feel a bit of empathy beca...

Describe a time you couldn’t stop laughing.

Prompt Response: Although there are many times where I laugh a lot just for the sake of it and because to be able to smile and laugh at your life or anything about it and being happy is enough. While that is thee case where I couldn't stop laughing was when I was watching a funny video where the sound effects got me.  Summary: Today in class we continued working on our one pager. Reflection: Today I learned that poetry can be analyzed in more ways such as giving your own interpretations of it. This impacted me by making me feel curious as to how others interpret certain poems from authors when reading it, giving me the curiosity to discover more than what meets the eye. In the future I will use this to help me with the analysis of my poems better and for the poems rough draft of what I want the message to be or what's the main lesson I want them to pull from it.

In "The Lamb" and "The Tyger", both poems suggest that beauty and danger can come from the same source. Describe a time when something or someone you admired also scared or challenged you. How did that experience change the way you see the world or the idea of “goodness”?

Oct 22/Wednesday  Prompt Response: The time that someone I admired challenged or scared was when I was much younger was when I was in a friend group and meeting those people kind of influenced me in a bad way which challenged who I was as a person and something I regret to this day, as the saying goes "the people who you hang out with are also what make up of you". That experience changed the way I saw the world by making me hate the world but not the people in it, because I believe society is shaped by what we see is "good" but in the end our perspectives and views are all different due to us having our own stories and going against from who we truly are and before the world that shaped us is what makes us enjoy life the most.  Summary: I was not here in class this day as I was home sick but judging by the prompt we read and discussed over two poems made by William Blake: "The Lamb" and "The Tyger". Reflection: Today I learned that innocence an...

What have your parents told you about your birth?

Prompt Response: My parents have told me that I was born in Mumbai and in a hospital and when I was being born the umbilical cord was around my neck depriving me of oxygen. My mother had the instinct that something was wrong and so on that was how I was then born early for my mom's 48 hours of labor which to this day she goes on about it each time I try and ask for money and then talks about the labor she went through and paying it back. Anyway my name came from her praying to an angel or saint, called St. Anthony. To which my name originated from that since her prayers were answered and I was born.  Summary: Today in class we read and discussed two poems made by William Blake, "Infant Sorrow", and "Infant Joy".  Reflection: Today I learned that there was a significance to an infant being born or more of a meaning behind it than I realized from the two poems as I don't really think about it much. This impacted me by making me feel a warm feeling as I think ...

What did you do over the break?

Prompt Response: During the Fall Break I applied to 14 jobs and didn't get an interview/cancelled the interview due to realizing the transportation and distance. Although I say that, I feel like I didn't do enough and wasted the precious time I had compared to others enjoying and relaxing over the break, while one might say to have peace within yourself in order to achieve great things, I believe that to truly succeed it to overcome adversity and be willing to take on a whole work load of responsibility and action at once in order to get great results. In the end I had a new goal in mind that developed during the break, and that was to persevere or at least learn how to. In the end I did not want to give up on my dreams or aspirations as I grew older, I wanted to persevere until I achieved my own sense of freedom and being true to myself.   Summary: Today In class we worked over a poem on paper called "A Poison Tree" by William Blake. After reading over the poem, we ...

How do you find time to enjoy your day, even when you have a lot going on? Write about at least three specific things you do to enjoy small moments throughout your day.

Prompt Response: The way I find the time to enjoy my day, even if I have a lot going on is reading a novel or manga as it makes up my day and makes it a bit more fulfilling. Another thing I enjoy throughout my day is taking long walks to recuperate and enjoy the outside environment instead of just staying in my bed all day sleeping. As well as going out to get myself a few snacks and treats like every few days to enjoy myself from my school work so that I can be happy with the work I put in.  Summary: We did the Fences quiz and had the fire drill.  Prompt Response: Today I learned that sometimes in order to keep going you have to keep the little moments of progress at heart to give you a reason to keep going on "why" you do so. This impacted me by making me feel a bit uplifted and resilient in the aspect of having to keep going and climbing the mountain known as life no matter what burdens or weight you carry on your back. In the future I will use this as one of the reas...

Describe a time when someone’s words had a lasting impact on you.

Prompt Response: A time when someone's words had a lasting impact on me was when a girl/friend said she cared about me which meant a lot during our friendship, to this day we are still friends although she is quite boring sometimes and plain like yogurt. But despite that I still like her for who she is, anyways she is a friend I cherish out my my very small circle of friends I have. Summary: Today in class we presented each of our posters about the characters in Fences, and listened and watched our classmates present their characters they were given. Reflection: Today I learned that Rose was empathetic in the story, the reason why I learned this was because I didn't read the story and had assumed that Cory cheated on her because she wasn't a good wife for him. This impacted me by piquing my curiosity on why in the world did Cory cheat on Rose, was it because he cheated on her for the thrill of it? Either way it impacted me by shifting my perspective or view of the characte...

Write about a moment when you had to step out of your comfort zone.

Prompt Response: A moment where I had to step out of my comfort zone was when I had to go out and look for a j*b (kidding I know it's job). Anyway's I had to step out of my comfort zone because usually my mom would help me with things although I had always wanted my independence to do things so I decided to get a job but the job market is so bad/cooked. The feeling of failing did get to me but a day later I did not give into those thoughts and so on I am still trying to find a job. Summary: Today in class we continued working on our poster and adding finishing touches to it, to present on Thursday.  Reflection: Today I learned that working together with classmates that I didn't know at first all to well can sometimes be an enjoyable experience, and I think that having good laughs and being able to get the work done is important overall; Though sometimes it is better to focus on getting the work done/locking in. This impacted me by making me realize that not every person ha...

Write about a dream that felt real. - Oct 6th

Prompt Response: A dream that felt real to me was when I was in a harry potter movie and the scene where Harry and his orange haired friend were getting chased in a car by a bunch of huge spiders and the mother spider was 3 times hunger than the car itself! Well after that happened I was in the car with them and when the mother spider reached us, she ate us all and the feeling of dying felt surreal despite jolting awake right afterwards from that nightmare of getting eaten. A dream that felt real that happened when I was 6.  Summary: Today in class we finished up the book fences by reading the last act where Cory is grown up and got back from the marine corps to go to Troy's funeral along with his mother Rose and his sister. While reading the last Act of the book we discussed and analyzed the book for deeper meanings.  Reflection: Today I learned of Cory's relationship with Troy since I was only here for Act 1 Scene II, which introduced us to Troy getting back home to hi...

Write about something you’ve always been curious about.

Prompt Response: Something that I have always been curious about was how can a person obtain discipline and do the same series of actions everyday to achieve a goal. The reason why I was curious about it was because I find myself in a struggle giving into my wants and soon the drive I once had is suppressed away until it rises again with action, but the question is "Is action the thing that dictates between a winner and a loser?". I believe that to be true because of the fact that many winner's do not quit when they are faced with failure, they simply continue forward until they obtain the result they want, albeit I do not know how they feel or the process of doing it, if anything I would not want to experience that type of thing that I call "suffering". But I suppose it's either that or getting nowhere, In the end one's actions are what determines one's story like a book; without action, one's story cannot continue being written as it becomes s...

What would you do: tell your friend to confess, tell their partner yourself, or stay quiet? Explain your choice, using ideas about loyalty and consequences from Fences. How might your decision affect everyone involved?

Prompt Response: Me personally regarding loyalty I would tell my wife about it to her myself, since culture from how your parents were raised also shapes you and as my mom says to be "honorable and loyal" and so on forth I believe that this is the best outcome for both sides no matter how much it may hurt. While I have only read one act of the story from Friday last week, I think that the consequences of him going out to "gamble" when he's with someone else other than his wife reflects the status of what a wife is in a household back then that you could throw away, showing the decreasing value of women and what they could do such as earn money or do something with themselves.  Summary: I was not here that day as the doctor had told me to rest my arm and not do any activities, my mom was pretty stern on me about it but I do believe that we are working on a poster that I'll see Friday on what's it about.  Reflection: Today I learned that to persevere is t...
