Reflect on the simile and metaphor worksheet. Which topic challenged you the most when creating your figurative language, and why? In your response, explain what made that topic difficult and how you worked through the challenge (or what you might do differently next time).
Prompt Response: A metaphor I think about that challenged me the most when creating my figurative language has to be based on Negative Labels. The reason why, is because while they're stereotypes for Indians, I wasn't really told or from my memory anything that relates to being called something that's negative. So on forth, the difficulty in creating this metaphor for me was in finding a reason for what's commonly related to Indians and people like me. I overcame this by using inspiration from literature that I have read in class like "Still I Rise", although I didn't copy it fully, I used the analysis that we did as a class and turned it into a good metaphor that talked about looks. Next time I'll most likely first think of sub-topics that relate to the main theme or headline in order to draft some good ideas.
Summary: Today in class we finished the 6 figurative language devices consisting of 3 metaphors, and 3 simile's. Then we got started working on our gallery walk or digital poster that will be showcased in front of the class.
Reflection: Today I learned that I actually have an above average gift when making a poem or figurative language consisting of metaphors and similes through practice. This impacted me by making me feel good and confident in myself about my skills, which put me in a good mood for the rest of the day. In the future I will use experiences like this in order to learn how to keep a positive and healthy mindset.
