In Wild, Cheryl Strayed writes about the difference between deciding to do something and actually committing to it: “There was the first, flip decision to do it, followed by the second, more serious decision to actually do it.” Reflect on a time in your own life when you made a quick or casual decision that later required a deeper commitment. Describe what changed between the first decision and the moment you realized you truly had to follow through. What fears, challenges, or responsibilities became real once the decision was no longer just an idea?

Prompt Response: A time in my life where I made a quick and casual decision which then turned into a deeper commitment was when it was Christmas Break and I decided to finish my Computer Science Course in just 3 days, in fact even before I had told myself multiple times that "I would do it on this day" or "I'll do it next week" and soon that time seemed to pass more and more until Christmas Break where I had committed myself to actually doing it rather than relying on words and getting it done regardless of my own emotional problems. When the dream or possibility of me doing it was no longer just an idea I had went through some development making me realize that through accumulation of hard work and diligence one can eventually reach a state of mastery or the glory they desire, however they're will always be one cost which is time.

Summary: Today in class we read through Chapter 1 and after we do so at home we do 7 themes and further deep dives into those 7 quotes giving an explanation.

Reflection: Today I learned from Cheryl Stray that in the book: Wild, she had felt impulsive emotions towards the guy that was the nurse there while her mother was dying. This impacted me by making me think deeper rather than just gloss over the side and ignore it deciding why she decided to act that way, to which I believe she did so because when a human being is faced with despair they will often lead to anything whether wrong or bad to ignore said despair or bad circumstance that involve them in order to make it easier or painless as possible. In the future I will use this to help me analyze literature by further going into this initial "curiosity" of mine on how one get's better at analyzing literature and thinking deeply (I had tried this today and kept in every detail while the audio was playing).
