At the end of the novel, Celie reconnects with Nettie and forms more peaceful relationships with the people who once harmed her. Reflect on the theme of reconciliation. Have you ever restored a relationship, forgiven someone, or been forgiven in a way that changed you? How does the novel’s ending shape your understanding of forgiveness across different cultures or families?
Prompt Responses: A time that I had forgiven someone, or been forgiven in a way it changed me was when my mother has forgiven me numerous times. As it impacted me and changed me into becoming a more forgiving person, however even though she has forgiven me I still hold past grudges as she does the same. The novel's ending shapes my understanding of forgiveness across different cultures or families by showing that across those different cultures and families by showing that weakness can be turned into strength and throughout the story seeing the many flaws of the people around Celie, that in the end that everything turned out well.
Summary: Today in class I will have to take a guess that we finished the last 5 letters of the Color Purple.
Reflection: Today I learned that even though Celie had many flaws in the past throughout her life she grew and mended those flaws into her own strengths and resilience till the very end. This impacted me by making me feel emotional for her as she finally found the joy that she deserved throughout her whole life. In the future I will use this to help me do my final project.
