Write about something that you wish you had more of.

 Prompt Response: Something that I wished that we had more of is money because I want to be able to have the luxury of doing the things I want in life. Such as not having to work a job that requires long periods of time, so that I can explore, spend money on the things I want, and be able to help others. 

Summary: Today in class we continued to work on our poems about our cultural identity. As well as getting tips here and there on what we could work on about our poem. 

Reflection: Today I learned more literacy devices that I can use for my poems such as Anaphora which can mean the repetition of a certain word in a poem. This impacted me by not realizing that I was using different literacy devices in my poem to me knowing about them which influenced me by trying to think of ways I can use Anaphora differently in any future writings I may do. In the future I will use this in order to add more elements to my poem since right now I'm a bit of a novice when it comes to my writing skills.

 Prompt Response: My parents have told me that I was born in Mumbai and in a hospital and when I was being born the umbilical cord was around my neck depriving me of oxygen. My mother had the instinct that something was wrong and so on that was how I was then born early for my mom's 48 hours of labor which to this day she goes on about it each time I try and ask for money and then talks about the labor she went through and paying it back. Anyway my name came from her praying to an angel or saint, called St. Anthony.  Prompt Response: When someone called me an idiot, as they said "Why is someone like you part of our group, your the most idiotic and unhelpful person I met". It made my self-esteem lower by a whole bunch of points and sooner or later I stopped trying in my classes to what defined that title for me as what I thought was idiotic;what an idiot was and made me interact with others less.  Summary: Today in class we went over a short essay "Incident" by Countee Cullen, and analyzed the poem; As well as discussing what the poem was about and the two themes of it. Before the Civil War, most people saw nothing wrong with children working long hours. Over time, people began to see it as unfair and even cruel. What is something that society once accepted but now sees as wrong, or something we still accept today that might be viewed as wrong in the future? Explain your reasoning.

 Prompt Response: Something we still accept that will most likely be seen as wrong and not done in the future is racism as we start to see as a society it is mixed as sometimes it can often be seen as good and bad. In today's society we believe that racism is something that is "fine" however the effects are often bad because it influences us to believe we can treat a person a certain color a certain way and I believe that in the future maybe a decade or two will be seen as something that is morally wrong and is not done even among young generations as we all join hands together.  Summary: Today in class we read over a short article over how child labor was soon abolished and what led up to that.
