What have your parents told you about your birth?

 Prompt Response: My parents have told me that I was born in Mumbai and in a hospital and when I was being born the umbilical cord was around my neck depriving me of oxygen. My mother had the instinct that something was wrong and so on that was how I was then born early for my mom's 48 hours of labor which to this day she goes on about it each time I try and ask for money and then talks about the labor she went through and paying it back. Anyway my name came from her praying to an angel or saint, called St. Anthony. To which my name originated from that since her prayers were answered and I was born.  Summary: Today in class we read and discussed two poems made by William Blake, "Infant Sorrow", and "Infant Joy".  Reflection: Today I learned that there was a significance to an infant being born or more of a meaning behind it than I realized from the two poems as I don't really think about it much.  Prompt Response: When someone called me an idiot, as they said "Why is someone like you part of our group, your the most idiotic and unhelpful person I met". It made my self-esteem lower by a whole bunch of points and sooner or later I stopped trying in my classes to what defined that title for me as what I thought was idiotic;what an idiot was and made me interact with others less.  Summary: Today in class we went over a short essay "Incident" by Countee Cullen, and analyzed the poem; As well as discussing what the poem was about and the two themes of it. Before all that, at the beginning of class we wrote three terms that were most offensive and why it offended us, for me it was "Mistake", "Failure", and "Idiot".  Reflection: Today I learned that an experience can define us in many ways carrying a grudge in our heads and how it can affect future outcomes. Before the Civil War, most people saw nothing wrong with children working long hours. Over time, people began to see it as unfair and even cruel. What is something that society once accepted but now sees as wrong, or something we still accept today that might be viewed as wrong in the future? Explain your reasoning.

 Prompt Response: Something we still accept that will most likely be seen as wrong and not done in the future is racism as we start to see as a society it is mixed as sometimes it can often be seen as good and bad. In today's society we believe that racism is something that is "fine" however the effects are often bad because it influences us to believe we can treat a person a certain color a certain way and I believe that in the future maybe a decade or two will be seen as something that is morally wrong and is not done even among young generations as we all join hands together.  Summary: Today in class we read over a short article over how child labor was soon abolished and what led up to that. Reflection: Today I learned that child labor is not used today because of the many factors that tie into it such as the harsh conditions they had to work in.
